FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Here you can find answers to the most frequently asked questions.

Which mattress is right for my baby?

When selecting from so many different models, the decision is certainly not easy.
We therefore provide a points system which should facilitate rapid and reliable orientation through our baby mattress range: the more quality points a mattress has, the better. There are a few factors to consider, depending on what you find important: good ventilation, the quality of the mattress cover and core and additional functions.

Which mattress cover should I choose?

More information available here: www.traeumeland.com/EN/mattress-cover

Which mattress core should I choose?

 More information available here: www.traeumeland.com/EN/mattress-core

Which additional functions (divisible cover, baby and toddler side)... do I require in a baby mattress?

Here too, the following applies: the more additional functions a baby mattress has, the safer is the sleeping environment.

How long can I use my Träumeland baby mattress?

You can use the mattress until your child grows out of their cot. The mattresses are suitable for children up to 5 years or with a weight of up to 25 kg.

Baby side and toddler side

How do I recognise the baby and toddler sides?

The baby side is slightly softer than the toddler side. There are labels on them stating 'baby side' or 'toddler side' on the mattress cover and on the mattress core. In this way, you can find the required markings directly on your mattress after washing the cover.

When should I turn the mattress from the baby side onto the toddler side?

We recommend that you turn the mattress from the baby side onto the toddler side from a weight of approximately 12 kg.

My new mattress smells…

Above all new mattress cores can emit a new odour which cannot dissipate completely beforehand due to the packaging. The odour is harmless and will have dissipated at the latest two to four weeks after unpacking the mattress. Ideally, ventilate the mattress outside prior to initial use. However, please ensure that the mattress does not become damp and is not exposed to direct sunlight. All our mattress cores are tested multiple times by independent test institutes for harmful substances and are superbly suited for use in baby beds.

My mattress core has suddenly turned yellow - what should I do?

Don't worry - a yellow mattress core is completely harmless.
Every foam discolours yellow through exposure to sunlight or artificial light. This is completely harmless and certainly not harmful for your baby.

My mattress has a depression in it

The covers of our mattresses are quilted with fleece on the inside. After initial use, this fleece loses a little of its volume. If your child always sleeps in the same place on the mattress, a depression may appear to form where its head contacts the mattress. If you lay your child in different places on the mattress, or when the child later moves around more on the mattress, the fleece is compressed across the entire cover, and the "depression" disappears again. This compression of the cover does not represent a disadvantage for your child.

Is the mattress core also washable?

No. We use a water-based adhesive in the production of our mattress cores; the individual parts would then fall apart.

Can I use Angelcare® with a Träumeland mattress?

Our mattresses have not been tested by us or by Angelcare® with regard to this possibility. Having been the market leader in German-speaking regions for years now, however, we have never received any negative feedback on functional impairments. According to Angelcare®, the devices do not function to one hundred percent when using mattresses with visco-elastic foam. This concerns the models Engelchen and Little Angel as well as mattresses made from natural latex.

Customer sizes

None of the mattresses from the Träumeland standard range fit into my baby bed. Are customer sizes available?

No problem - simply contact a Träumeland distributor located close to you. It is best to bring a template for the required mattress with you. We do not currently offer customer size mattresses via our online shop.

Due to the materials used, we cannot unfortunately offer customer sizes for the following products:

  • Green Dream
  • Brumm Brumm
  • Whirlwind
  • Angelhair

  • White star

Maximum possible sizes for customer sizes:

The maximum possible size for baby mattresses is: 75 x 160 cm

Wetness protection covers

Do I require an additional cover to the wetness protection integrated into the cover?

For mattresses with Träumeland "sleep safety" or "sleep fresh" covers, no additional cover is required for wetness protection, as long as your baby is wearing a nappy. These covers have the wetness protection function integrated into the mattress cover. Additional wetness protection covers stop not only the moisture, but also the ventilation and should therefore not be used.

From when can I use an air-tight wetness protection cover?

We recommend that you do not use a watertight or air-tight wetness protection cover until after your child has finished wearing nappies. During the initial two years of life, you should certainly never use air-tight materials in a baby bed. A mattress core will sufficiently protected with the Träumeland "sleep safety" and "sleep fresh" mattress covers at this age of the child.

Why should I buy a special kids' and youth mattress when I can also buy an adult mattress?

The answer is simple: A child's weight and height is very different from the weight and height of an adult.  In addition, growing children have different requirements than adults.

Why do I need a nursing cushion?

Even during pregnancy, a nursing cushion provides support when sitting or lying down, and ensures relaxed sleep. Once baby has finally arrived, it is helpful to apply the baby to the breast for feeding so that you still have at least one hand free.

Which nursing cushion is best for me?

Our nursing cushions are filled with fine, noiseless EPS beads as these are highly easy-care and also washable. They offer a lot of comfort as they can easily be adapted to your sitting and nursing position.
Our nursing cushions differ regarding their surface: We provide 100 percent cotton covers or elastic covers (92 percent cotton and 8 percent elastane). These are more stretchy due to their elastane content.

At what temperature can I wash the nursing cushion?

The removable cover of Träumeland nursing cushions is washable at 60° degrees. The entire nursing cushion (including the filling) is washable at 40° degrees.

What should I observe when purchasing a changing mat?

All our changing mats are made from a hygienic, wipeable phthalate-free foil and are filled with thermo-fleece so that your baby lies on a soft pad.
Some of our models also feature a cotton cover which can be washed at 60°. All the changing mats feature a sewn border to create a small depression for the safety of your baby.

During the initial two years of life, you should certainly never use air-tight materials in a baby bed. A mattress core will sufficiently protected with the Träumeland "sleep safety" and "sleep fresh" mattress covers at this age of the child.

Which duvet is right for my baby?

The numerous duvets available make the choice quite difficult. For the selection of a suitable cover, thermal requirements and the cover and filling materials should primarily be considered.
Thermal requirements: Is a summer, winter, all-year round or combination cover required?
Material: Covers made of TENCEL® are well-known for their outstanding moisture management, cotton covers provide good air circulation, down covers are airy and lightweight and special fibre covers are very easy-care.

Which duvet size is right for my baby?

As long as your baby sleeps in a cradle or bassinet, you can use a cover in the size 80 x 80 cm. If your baby already sleeps in a cot, then the size 100 x 135 cm is suitable.

Tips on care

In order to preserve the colour brilliance of the high-quality prints, please wash the bedclothes inside out, with the zips closed. Use a mild detergent without optical brighteners.

Does every bumper fit every bed?

Our normal cotton bumpers are only suitable for square beds in the sizes 60x120 or 70x140 cm. The 3D-bumper-Air, on the other hand, fits every type of bed shape.

Why should my child sleep in a sleeping bag?

Sleeping bags are the better alternatives to duvets. Using sleeping bags for babies instead of traditional duvets significantly reduces the risk of heat accumulation or covering your baby. Your baby sleeps more peacefully – they won't wake up because the duvet has disappeared. A sleeping bag also provides the feeling of safety familiar from the womb.

What is the right size for my baby?

The perfect-sized sleeping bag for your baby primarily depends on the size of your child's body. Our tip: To ensure your baby has freedom of movement for their legs, the distance between their feet and the bottom of the sleeping bag should be no less than than 10 cm.

The table below with guide values will help you with your selection.

To be on the safe side, you should still check:

Length of body
= - head length
= + 10 cm
= perfect size for the sleeping bag

What clothes should my baby wear in the sleeping bag?

Many parents are unsure when it comes to nightwear. Will the baby be too warm or too cold? Just as there are hot summer nights and cold winter months outside, there are also differences in temperature in your child's room at night. To allow a restorative sleep for your child it is important to perfectly adapt their nightwear. We don't want to make any general statements on this. However, one thing is crucial: Don't be fooled by the thickness of the material in the sleeping bag as the materials have different heat values.

The “TOG” unit can be consulted as a guide value. “TOG” represents the thermal conductivity of textiles and tells you how warm your baby will be in a sleeping bag at a certain room temperature. The higher the “TOG rating”, the warmer your baby. Sleeping bags have different “TOG ratings”. The LIEBMICH sleeping bag has a 2.5 TOG rating. Nightwear should be adapted in line with the “TOG rating” listed.

On hot summer days, the inner sleeping bag can be used without the outer sleeping bag. As we have used guide values, you should listen to your gut instinct and feel your baby's neck. Simply imagine you were lying in the sleeping bag! TIP: The LIEBMICH sleeping bag has double ventilation regulation. Both ventilation slits on the sleeping bag can be opened with a zip and allow optimum air flow as needed. As a result, your baby won't overheat.

What you should consider when buying a sleeping bag for your baby...

  • calculate the right size (enough freedom of movement for the legs as well as fit for the head and arm hole)
  • select the right material: TENCEL ® natural fibres ensure significantly more moisture absorption
  • sufficient ventilation to avoid heat accumulation
  • press studs preferred due to the choking hazard of buttons
  • no ribbons and laces
  • a sleeping bag that grows with your child is practical and also saves money
  • all-round zip for easy changing as well as putting your child in the sleeping bag and taking them out
  • low-risk materials to ensure your baby sleeps safe and sound
  • zip with locking mechanism so your baby cannot get trapped and the zip cannot open by itself

Why babies prefer the LIEBMICH sleeping bag

The breathing sleeping bag: The double ventilation regulation is a unique feature that every baby would want. Both ventilation slits on the sleeping bag can be opened with a zip and allow optimum air flow as needed. As a result, your baby won't overheat. Just as you like to control the temperature in your bedroom, your baby wants that in the sleeping bag too.

Natural fibres: the comforting material is cuddly, healthy & natural

Tested for antimony and harmful substances for safe and healthy sleep

Loving details make the LIEBMICH sleeping bag irresistible!

Tips on care

For washing use a mild detergent without optical brighteners.

Why should I use a sleeping bag for my child in preference to a blanket?

Sleeping bags are to be preferred to blankets as these cannot be kicked off or pulled over the head. In this way, you avoid overheating through heat accumulation and ensure a safe and healthy sleep for your baby.

Which sleeping bag size should I select for my baby?

In order to find the optimum size of summer sleeping bag, you should always orientate yourself on the child's body size. Ensure that the distance between its legs and the end of the sleeping bag is no less than 10 cm, so that your baby has freedom to move.

The following information makes selection easier:

What should I clothe my child in under the summer sleeping bag?

In order to ensure a pleasant sleeping environment also in summer, the selection of correct sleep clothing is particularly important. However, in addition to reference values, always listen to your gut feeling, and orientate yourself on the ""TOG"" measuring unit. The LIEBMICH summer sleeping bag has a ""TOG value"" of 0.5! This is a reference value and states the thermal resistance of textiles. The higher the ""TOG"" value, the warmer the sleeping bag. All-year round sleeping bags therefore generally feature a ""TOG"" value of 2.5!

In the following table, you will find recommendations for the SUMMER SLEEPING BAG LIEBMICH ("TOG value" = 0.5):

TIP: The LIEBMICH summer sleeping bag features a ventilation slit at the foot end which can be opened using a zip. This permits additional ventilation and counters any dangerous heat accumulations.

What you should consider when purchasing a summer sleeping bag…

  • Ensure sufficient freedom of movement for the legs, and a perfect fit around the neckline and armholes so that your baby cannot slip out of the sleeping bag.
  • Select exclusively skin-compatible and lightweight materials
  • Provide sufficient ventilation so that heat accumulation can be avoided
  • Avoid cords and ribbons
  • Make sure that the product has a safety zip so that the baby cannot pinch itself

Why babies would choose the LIEBMICH summer sleeping bag:

  • 100 % cotton - airy and light on baby's skin
  • Avoidance of heat accumulation thanks to ventilation slit
  • Central safety zipper
  • Without optical brighteners
